Amazing Take Away Food Facts

Amazing takeaway food facts! Just Eat's annual takeaway trends

Infographic by Just-Eat

Introduction:

Food, glorious food. This infographic by the guys at Just-Eat.co.uk takes an in-depth look at the yearly trends in takeaway food across Britain. Being that I currently live in London this should be a good read.

Information: ★★★★

This infographic is packed with information and offers a lot of statistical figures pertaining to take-away orders across Britain. I was surprised to see Indian food come in as the 3rd most ordered food as I was expecting it to be higher than Chinese. I am also curious to know if ‘Dominos’ or ‘Pizza Hut’ are considered Italian food? Granted pizza is an Italian staple but I would hardly classify those brands as ‘Italian’.

I was shocked to see that Vodka was one of the most requested alcohol beverages to buy when ordering take-away. I can’t say I’ve ever sat down to a pizza or Chinese food with a glass or shot of vodka. I’m curious to know where these statistics came from, how many people were surveyed and over what time period.

Design: ★★★

The design is pretty cool. I like the use of the various colors and the food images are quite fun. The layout allows the information to flow in a coherent manner and the fonts are easy to read making the content easy to comprehend and follow.

Creativity: ★★★

It’s a pretty creative infographic in so much that I’ve not seen this topic covered before. I think people who enjoy take-away food will find this information interesting although not very useful.

Conclusion:

A fairly good infographic from Just-Eat.co.uk. I would however like to see a bit more information about other types of take-away foods like sushi, McDonalds and KFC, etc to see how they compare.

How Much Money You Save by Having a Mum [Infographic]

How Much Money You Save By Having A Mum

Infographic by QuickQuid.co.uk

Introduction:

Mums! We all have them and if you’re like me probably don’t treat them as well as we should. This infographic looks at just how much money you are likely to have saved over the course of a month just by having a good mother.

Information: ★

This is a really basic infographic with very little useful information. All we are presented with are the figures one might expect to pay if you hired a professional to do the services listed.  I’m just not quite sure what I am supposed to do with this information? In fact the list of resources at the bottom of the graphic is almost as long as the main body of content.

Design: ★★

The design is cute however it looks more like a cutout for kids to do on mother’s day. I like the colors but everything else is very juvenile in execution. The images are childish and the list of resources is just way too long.

Creativity: ★

If I’m being blunt this is a shit infographic. I have no idea what the purpose of it was and again QuickQuid have ventured well off topic from a money lending site to a useless graphic about a topic that just isn’t interesting or beneficial to the reader. Perhaps mother’s would find it useful to throw under their kids noses each time they complain.

Conclusion:

A horrible, horrible infographic. QuickQuid.co.uk needs to start providing some more mature infographics that take a more statistical look at people’s spending habits, their debts and the overall state of the economy and how people manage their finances.

Online Trading Academy: A 15-Year Timeline [Infographic]

Posted on March 15, 2013 by Seda in Online Trading No Comments

Trading History

Infographic by Online Trading Academy

Introduction:

Today we take a look at an infographic from the Online Trading Academy. It is a timeline that spans over 15 years from when “The Online Trading Academy”, later renamed to just “Online Trading Academy” was formed in 1997 up until 2012.

Information: ★

For someone who does not know a lot about the Online Trading Academy this is just a timeline about the company showing off how much they have grown since 1997. From when their 10,000th student graduated to when they opened new Academy’s in different countries throughout the world there is nothing interesting about this information if you are not a former student at the trading academy (or work there). The only information that is somewhat interesting are the points in modern economy such as the IT-bubble in 2000 and the bank crash in 2008. This is common knowledge though and nothing new.

Design: ★★★

The Design of the Infographic is nice. They use nice nuances of blue and I like their use of maps, people equaling 10,000 students etc. The design work looks good to me!

Creativity: ★

This is not creative at all. These are facts that someone employed within the company from 1997 could come up with in about 30 minutes. There is too much focus on the company itself. It would be interesting to learn what kind of degrees you can get, how demand has changed over time, the costs and duration of the courses and different economic periods etc.

Conclusion:

I do like the design of the infographic but the information and the creativity put into it just doesn’t stand out. Creating an infographic is often a way to get people to mention you in their blogs/websites etc and I don’t see any reason why anyone would do that if given this infographic.

Predictions For Cloud Computing 2013 [Infographic]

IT Industry Predictions 2013

Infographic by Intechnology

Introduction:

This is an infographic about predictions for Cloud Computing for 2013 and forward. I remember hearing about the “cloud” as thin clients back in the late 90′s and a lot of companies spent big money on advertising their products to get investors. Back in 1999-2000 the Internet connections were too slow to really make use of this technology and of course many of the visionaries saw their dreams fall with the IT-Bubble in early 2000.

Information: ★★★★

The information in this infographic is excellent. The benefits of cloud computing is explained, how it can save companies money and managers interviewed for this infographic seem very positive when it comes to Cloud Computing in the future. Internet connections are getting better. The 4G network is finally setup in the UK and the bandwidth of today can actually handle data. I think this infographic gives a great look of what will come. It might not be all in 2013 but it sure is logical and the way forward of handling data.

Design: ★★★

The design of this infographic might not be the prettiest but they manage to put a lot of information in. Some of it accompanied with text and symbols. They get their point across and that is that!

Creativity: ★★★★

I am impressed by all the aspects of Cloud Computing that is touched. From cell phones to tablets and data to routers for bigger corporations. They have really done a good job in checking their thought with real managers and are touching on a lot of interesting points.

Conclusion:

I think this is a great infographic. It is very informative and predicts a future of computing that might not lay to far off from today! Thumbs up from InfoGraphicsMaze!

Improving Your Home in 10 Minutes or Less [Infographic]

Improving Your Home

Infographic by QuickQuid.co.uk

Introduction:

In today’s infographic we take a look at the ways in which homeowners can improve the appearance of their homes without it costing an arm and a leg.

Information: ★★★

The infographic is packed with little tid bits of information some of it which would be commonsense but also some which is quite useful. I specifically liked the information on the psychology effects of color and what would be the best choice of colors for each room of a house.

I also liked the information about the layout of furniture. As I write this review now I am sitting at a desk that is facing a wall. This infographic has prompted me to change my desk position so I am looking out of a window!

Design: ★★★

The design is quite cute and has a very welcoming and homely feeling to it. The use of colors is good. Not over bearing but fun and cheerful leaving me with a good feeling after scanning the information.

The fonts and images used work well and I would go so far as to say the infographic is playful in presentation.

Creativity: ★★

It’s not an overly creative infographic. I think these days there are way too many static infographics on the market. It would have been nice to see an interactive graphic where people could click on the various rooms in a house and the information about paint color or the layout of furniture could be dynamic.

Conclusion:

Overall, a very decent infographic from the guys at QuickQuid.co.uk. However, QuickQuid is associated with loans and I’m not quite sure how this topic of home improvement relates to money lending? I would be very careful not to do too many infographics that are off topic to your core business. Matt Cutts has come out and said that infographics that go off-topic to the site that developed them may not pass value in the future.

What Are Infographics?

Information graphics or infographics as they are better known, are visual graphics representing complex information and data in a clear and concise manner (that's of course if they are done correctly).

Infographics can be either static, animated or interactive in nature and are used to illustrate information that in your standard text format would be otherwise boring or difficult to understand.

Whilst traditionally used by computer scientists, mathematicians and statisticians, these days more and more companies are using infographics to spread their message, product or information along with the help of social media channels.

This new trend doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon and gives Internet surfers a new way of accessing and reading information that is both visually appealing and informative.
